This project in a Ponsonby villa involved the design, detailed drawings and Project Management of my client’s new kitchen. I used nekton on the benches, splash back and under the island recess used for seating. This material is an extremely resilient material as it doesn’t scratch and you can put dishes straight from the oven on to it.
I combined this bench top material with soft touch acrylic drawer and cupboard fronts. This is a very hard wearing material and doesn’t show finger marks like melamines. As the fronts are handle-less this was important so you would see finger marks when you push to open the drawers and pantry cupboards. Then I added in a contrasting PSP panel in a bronze colour and texture to contrast with the other drawer finishes and to pick up the bronze tone in the grain of the stone benches.
My clients wanted a contemporary kitchen that would work well in their open plan kitchen living area and compliment the polished concrete floors and I think these materials will stand the test of time.
“We decided to renovate our Kitchen and used Marrion for the design and project coordination which was a great decision from our perspective. Marrions ideas and problem solving were excellent and she provided us with ideas and options that we would not have thought on our own. Marrion and her team were fabulous and very helpful and flexible when we made changes to the plan. They were easy to talk to, listened well and gave honest opinions and advice. As a result we got a new kitchen which far exceeded our expectations in terms of design, function and aesthetics”
