This English country style home was built in 1912, designed by Noel Bamford, a prominent New Zealand Architect in the early 1900's.The house sits on a 3,500m2 site, rare for the Epsom area. When it was bought by my clients it had been in the previous owners family for 50 years. Little had been done to the house over that time, so it was very outdated. The renovation required total gutting inside, removing of walls and adding windows, doors and verandah to bring it up to today's requirements for family living. We were mindful that all renovation work to the brick structure and slate roof was done by craftsmen in keeping with original details. Inside, the interior was replanned, converting the original seven bedroom house into five bedrooms with three and a half bathrooms. The kitchen, dining and family areas were opened out to a new verandah and terrace. The landscaping included new volcanic rock walls, swimming pool and planting. At a later stage a new stone entertaining area and triple garage with attic living for teenagers was constructed. The house is a unique property which has been restored to embrace modern living without sacrificing the integrity of the original English country style design
