While working as an Architect I designed a new extension to this villa in Ponsonby, which is a heritage area and has strict planning regulations to maintain the character features of this style of housing. The extension accommodates an open plan kitchen, dining area opening onto a large deck used for outdoor dining, overlooking their private garden. The extension was designed with the same exterior architectural features, high stud height, roof style, sash windows and decorative exterior details consistent with a villa style house. However the interior of the extension has all the requirements for modern day living including flowing onto a deck for outdoor living resulting in an extension that has become the hub of the house
